The Oriel Pantin society, named after W. A. Pantin Fellow and Honorary Fellow of the College from 1933-1973, is the College’s society for those studying history. Its members include all members of the JCR and MCR studying history as well as the College’s tutors and other tutors affiliated to the College.
During term time the society organises social events, especially in Michaelmas term, and throughout the year organises visits of historical interest. Top of the society’s calendar is the Pantin Society dinner in Trinity term, a black tie event where any special events of the year are noted and members have a chance to catch up and socialise. Good food, fine wine, cigars and snuff to be expected and enjoyed with a suitable level or irony!
